Hello from Canada
Looking to begin the process of learning the straight in the new year after contemplating it for sometime. Probably order the sight-unseen deal from WhippedDog after I'm done paying for Christmas. In the mean-time I thought I'd gain some knowledge before I dive in.

Grips,
Welcome to SRP. Pleased that you decided to join and happy to have you aboard.
Read the SRP wiki and watch the shaving videos here as well as on YouTube. They will provide you with lots of knowledge about building lather and straight razor shaving before you dive in.

Thanked: 1195Welcome to SRP from a fellow Edmontonian!
Larry has a good reputation, you should be fine buying through him. In the meantime there is a wealth of information here, both in experienced members and written content, so read all you can and feel free to ask any questions you want.
Have fun,

Thanks for the warm and quick welcomes. I have been shaving with a DE for about 6 mo. but somehow I knew I would take this step. I have already been watching some shaving, stropping and honing vids. But there is no such thing as too much knowledge.

Welcome, welcome. I agree, no such thing as too much knowledge...I've been using a straight for 2 years now (6 months exclusively) but still consider myself a novice. Learning more every day, shaves getting better and better - you'll find the improvements gratifying!
