    Default Hello fron NSW Australia

    Hi All
Just found this great forum and have been doing lots of reading
I had a straightrazor shave while holidaying in Las Vagas earlier this year and my wife has just bought me a Dovo olivewood straightrazor , strop , bowl and shaving soap for Christmas
I have had 2 shaves so far and not sliced anything yet

My 1st shave took an hour but the 2nd about 40mins .

Now for the fun part trying to get the hang of stropping

    Cheers

G'Day blk56 and welcome to SRP.
It's great to see another Aussie here.
You will find all the answers you'll ever need, regarding shaving with a cut-throat razor, here and lots of great guys to assist you with your journey, too.
I think that if you haven't cut yourself yet you are not trying hard enough....hehehe
Glad to hear about your successes so far, though.
Read all you can about stropping in the relevent forum, particularly the stickies and, until you get used to the flip, place your strop on a flat surface (eg. bench top) while stropping - it really helps IME.
Keep us posted on your progress
Hang on and enjoy the ride...

Welcome blk56 to SRP!! +1 on Havachat45's intro. I'm guessing your Dovo is the stainless. Excellent razor, great shaver and still remains one of my favorites. Takes an awesome edge and holds it through many shaves. Also very easy to maintain and not constantly having to fret about rust. I've always wanted to visit Australia, but mate, you've got poisonous things coming atcha from all directions. Of course, we have our share here where I live also. Welcome, and Good Luck with the shaving! Enjoy!!!

    Regards,

    Howard
