Thread: MY FIRST TIME EVER!

So today was my first time ever shaving the old style. I used my new DOVO Shavette to get my technique down to a science. I bought a new DOVO all stainless steel and had it sent away for sharpening. The people at classic shaving told me as a noob, it would be the only way I would know what sharp truly felt like. I read that when you first start out, that spending money on your shaving preparation products is a better idea than your razor itself. Well my wife bought me a AOS set for Christmas and I put it to use. I thought I did relatively well for my first time. I only gave my self two surgically placed cuts on some irritated spots from yesterday's crappy cartridge shave. I really enjoyed shaving today, which is the first time in my 9 years of everyday shaving Marine Corps career. I felt like a true gentleman, and had a sense of nobility when I was done. I guess I just wanted to say thank you to everyone on here who took the time to help out a new guy, and made my shaving experience a good one. I have spent several hours reading threads on razors, techniques, and trial and error. You're all great people in my eyes and I look forward to years of interaction and great shaves.
