    Default Hello from North Alabama

After wanting to try straight razor shaving for sometime, I finally decided to take the plunge. I used the money I got for Christmas and hit ebay like a banshee.

I came across a LOMBARD CO. "My Barber" razor, which I had never heard of. I did google search and only found one other picture and mention of a LOMBARD. It was actually here on SRP. The one I found looked like it was in decent shape, so I bought it. It came in today and, being as green to this as I am, I must say I think it's in really good shape.

Before I read through the forums on SRP, I also purchased a B&B strop(whoops!). Since I read I'll need one to practice with, I'm really not too worried about it. I'll probably sand it down, condition it, and see it I can at least make a backup out of it.

I also bought two brushes: a "green" Van der Hagen and an Omega boar bristle. I decided to keep it simple and see where this road takes me.

I also found a sweet deal on an APART barbers hone that I "had to have".

Here are pics of my setup so far

    Also:
if anyone has any information on this razor, please fill free to enlighten me. I really would like to know if I made a good decision.

    Hi Tyler

    Welcome to the forum,

Don't know that brand but it does look in good shape. Did is say it was shave ready when you bought it? If not you may want to get it honed by a pro before you use it.

I contacted a gentleman in Huntsville that said he can hone razors. I am taking it to him later this week. I am kicking myself for not stumbling on this forum before I pulled the trigger on the strope. Thanks to both of you for the advice. I am looking forward to get shave #1 under my belt.

Welcome, Tyler! Nice to see a neighbor on here. I live in Decatur now, but grew up in Mt. Hope.
