Thread: Chicago 'Burbs

Hello Everyone!

Not sure if a 'psuedo' midlife crisis forced me into the world of straight razor shaving...but I am HOOKED!

I just got my first razor, a shavette, because I wanted to experiment with the process before I dive in too far. It's a Parker SR1...I know! Dovo also makes one...but this was a little cheaper and heavier, so I thought I'd give it a whirl.

I have two young boys, 12 and 8, and they really do admire me...partly because I'm not around enough for them to get sick of me, but also because we have two younger daughters that like to monopolize my time. The boys cherish our time together, and love to do "guy stuff" with their old man.

Straight razor shaving is really the LAST of the TRUE "Man Skills" out there (with any practicality that is). I feel honored to be among you all...as I have learned something from every post in every forum that I have read! Kudos to Lynn for having the foresight to believe that there are many of us "manly men" out here to support this.

About me personally? I am 41; a father of 4; and married for 13 years to the most beautiful, loving, and supportive person alive. I am a career firefighter/paramedic, enjoy spending time with my family, play guitar as a hobby, and have gone back to school to earn my Masters in Public Service Administration.

I look forward to seeing everyone around the "Community".

Hey Bill welcome!!! Where in the burbs are you I too am from Chicago and there are some great resources around here (ie the forum and around Chicago!) I as well started with a shavette and quickly switched to a proper cut throat! I love the me time it grants after a tough day at work! Male sure to check out the Library it is a HUGE wealth of info!
