New guy with straight razor OCD
Ok I've turned from lurker to member. I've gotten alot of great info on here so I had to join.
I've used just about everything you can think of to shave with at one time or another, but I've always had a thing for straight razors. I get usual comments, like thats dangerous or why would you want to do that. Well, my answer is because I can.
I'm not bragging in anyway because I'm sure you guys on this forum have more straight razors than me, but I've collected enough razors in a short amount of time that I'll be busy restoring for months. There I've said, I just hope this stays between friends, because the Mrs's is starting to ask how many I've got because the packages are coming two to three at a time. LOL.Last edited by twogun; 01-28-2012 at 05:03 AM.

Welcome to SRP and it's about time you joined. If you thought you would save money by switching to straights, then you have another think coming. At least that's what I thought when I began this journey. Ask any questions you have and have fun with this. And just so you know, P. O. Boxes are a great way in which to add to your collection on the down low.
Why doesn't the taco truck drive around the neighborhood selling tacos & margaritas???

Thanks guys. Enjoy seeing there's other's out there that appreciate an instrument(s) made when people took pride in their work. Hopefully, more and more people will catch on that pretty much anything can and will last longer than any of us, if you take care of it and give it the respect that it deserves. Although I haven't made a complete razor from scratch, At some point I will. And hopefully be able to pass on a skill to someone else as a number of individuals on this forum do each and everytime they post on this forum.
I live in Camillus, NY and the old Camillus Cutlery is just down the street from me. After I purchased my home, my neighbor who is in his 80's informed me that my home was originally the Camillus Cutlery management house. It's not a grand mansion as one would assume, but a well built house from 1850. All along the street are the homes the Cutlery built and owned for the workers, all of which are privately owned.
Just thought I share.Last edited by twogun; 02-05-2012 at 06:43 PM.
