Thanked: 0Hi, I have questions...of course!
I am stepping up from de to straight. I have narrowed it down to dovo and I think I will order it from Straight Edge designs. Any suggestions about a great razor and strop set for a beginner? I know this is probably the most frequently asked question so thank you in advance. Great site!

For a beginner, I'd recommend a Paddle Strop because they are easier to learn on. There will be enough for you to learn without adding to the burden.

Thanked: 2209I had the opportunity recently to use one of SRD's paddle strops. They are simply the best I have seen. The ability to switch to different coverings is a distinct plus. From plain leather, to felt with diamond spray to leather with chrome oxide abrasive applied gives them a lot of versatility. SRD as a vendor/paddle strop/Dovo is a very good choice for a new guy.

Thanked: 2209A blade width of 5/8" or 6/8" seems to work the best.
