Thanked: 32Hi from Northern Virginia
I was bit by the wet-shaving bug a few years ago. I have been very happy with my Gillette Super Speed DE up to now. I credit Mantic59 for the video education and was excited to see his interview on the home page announcing that he is entering the world of straights.
I was enticed to get into straights after seeing my grandfather's vintage straight razor (looks to date back to the early 1900s). It was a gift to him from his employees back in the 1960s and he never used it. I aim to change that. After some searching I ran across a newbie set (5/8 George Wostenholm & Sons IXL) in the classifieds from Doughboy68 and I am now waiting on the arrival of my first shave-ready straight.

Hi, and welcome to SRP!
Yes, I suspect Mantic59 has inspired quite a few to change to DE's, his videos are great!
Good luck with your soon to arrive straight.
Should you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask
And while you wait for it to arrive, check out the Library on here, it is a really useful bucket of tips, tricks and knowledge!Bjoernar
Um, all of them, any of them that have been in front of me over all these years....

Welcome to SRP. As Birnando said, read the FAQ's and feel free to ask any questions. I know of a NOVA meet up with some of the guys. They're a great bunch, and have a wealth of knowledge to share. I just might be there myself. I recommend checking it out. All the best- J

Thanked: 247Welcome to the forum. I don't offer much help, cause I'm still learning, but I do try sometimes. Have a great day!

Welcome to SRP and to the wonderful world of the best shaves you'll ever get! In what part of NoVa are you located? As Birnando and others have pointed out, there is a wealth of information on the site, and you can always ask questions. If you need in person help, all you have to do is ask. I also second Johnny's recommendation to make it to the meetup in March. If the calendar works, I'll be there as well...

Thanked: 32Thanks for the warm welcomes.
I also live in Alexandria, we could be neighbors. I am just east of Landmark Mall.
The meetup looks fun, I have to see if I can clear the time to make it. I am also a knife collector and when I saw the mention of forge and saw all those grinders it certainly made me jealous.
