    Default Greetings from The Netherlands

Hi all, I must confess I don't own a straight razor. (Yet , after discovering this forum I have already looked around what the options are...) However, I am interested in getting my knives as sharp as possible, a hobby fueled by my recent purchase of a Wicked Edge Precision Sharpener. It is definitely my ambition to shave with a pocket knife. (That is, it was my ambition until I saw a video of a couple of forum members shaving with a cleaver .)

Welcome. That's a good system for sharpening knives. Shaving with a knife can be done. The demonstrations of shaving with other types of edged gear is more for show than practical. Study this place as there is a great amount of good information. I came from the knife world and there are significant differences between knives and razors.

There are a few features in the Scandinavian edge where it overlaps a razor though and that type of blade would be a better knife to use to shave. The use of such a blade as a knife would likely change its ability to function well as a razor. It could be done though if you have good honing equipment. I think you'll rapidly find that you'd want both a knife and a razor.

Of course, I understand that. What I wanted to say is that, coming from the knife world, I want to get them as sharp as possible. I hope to find information about that here. (In fact, I have found a lot of useful information already .) And if I get whatever non-razor knife extremely sharp, shaving with it is the ultimate proof of its sharpness.
