Thanked: 0Greetings from Tennessee
Hello! My name is Michael and I'm a noob. I have wanted a shave with a barber for sometime but I'm having touble finding someone. There hasn't been much of a demand so they don't do it any longer they all tell me. Tired of hearing it I got to thinking why not myself. Just bought my first razor today and I found this forum. Hope to meet some new friends and find a wealth of knowlege here. Thanks and God Bless...

Hey Michael,
Welcome aboard!! Pretty hard to find a barber anymore that'll give a shave. I guess there are a few around, but most seem to be in the cities. What kind of razor did you get?
If you haven't surfed around SRP yet you'll find lots of good info. Here's a link to the Library, formerly the Wiki, and it has some good tips for new straight shavers, and lots more. Straight Razor Place Wiki - Straight Razor Place Wiki
Also you'll find all here are ready to help, so ask away. The beginners forum pretty much will cover any subject to start. Enjoy and have fun!
Regards,
Howard

Thanked: 498Hello Michael and welcome.
Its good to see another member join the brotherhood. Great initiative my friend. When in doubt do it yourself. Just have fun, dont get discouraged cause it will take lots of practice and a few nicks here and there, but it will be all worth it once you get your technique down.
Good luck to you and once again Welcome!!!!

Welcome Michael! Great to have another gentleman of the South join this group. Lots of information available. Lots of great people.
We just had a big meetup in Atlanta, but we will have more chances to get together soon.
Again, great to have you on board.
Mike

Thanked: 0Thanks for the warm welcomes. Howard I purchased a used Anton Wingen Jr. It has a # 6 or 9 stamped on it and brown buffalo horn handle. Went to a knife show yesterday and and got it for $20.00.

I believe that's out of Solingen and should be a very good razor if it's in good condition. Of course, we all like pictures so if you have the time and camera you'll get plenty of advice, and I mean that in a good way! You know, even if it isn't in too good of shape, for 20 bucks it'll make a great razor to learn to strop and later to practice honing, so either way, you did alright!! Keep having fun!!!

Edit: Here's a link on how to post pictures, thought it'd save you some time looking for it.
