    Default Hey there!

    Hi everybody,

Im a new and young member (21) from Madrid, Spain. Ive been shaving with straight razor for 3 years now, and I just love it!
I started shaving when I was 14 (7 years ago) and had to learn it for myself. I got tough hair, both beard and hair (but just shaving my beard though, haha); so I decided to jump over the straight razor, which has been really useful, enjoyable and a total new stage. Ive been lately getting some classic shaving books and notes, just to check how I should be shaving and found out this amazing forum.

Im using a cheap straight razor, one of those that uses disposable blades. However, I like good blades, so Im using the Feather blades. Also, a pretty decent badger brush and some cool soap someone gave to me.

Im open to suggestions on what straight razor to get next (still using disposable blades, I dont want to go too high yet), badger brush, soaps and after shaves. About the blades, well, Ive tried alot, and Im totally in love with the Feather ones.

    Thanks alot guys!

Thanks alot mate! I´ll check the dovos, but Im a bit afraid of getting a classic straight razor (I mean, with no interchangeable blades; I dont know how you say it in english), since Ive been told that keeping it in an appropiate state is pretty hard and rather expensive. Is it true? What would I need and how should I learn it?

Again, thanks for the quick answer. All the best,

    David

yes it is kind of true, In order to keep a fixed blade razor in check you would need a few honing stones and a decent quality leather strop. But with both those items it can last a life time and more if properly maintained. It would also be a huge benefit not to have to pay for blades when they need to be replaced. Just leaves more money for soaps and other fun shaving stuff lol

The problem is that I dont have that much money to expend in a single fixed blade razor. I prefer to keep using disposable blades until Im in a better financial situation and with more serious practice (I just started reading some classic book and it´s just so awesome how it explains every detail).

Thanks alot. I´ll keep posting and learning from all you guys.
