Thanked: 0Beginner from Sydney
Hi All,
Have just started learning straight razor shaving in Sydney. I'm scouring the forums for a good starting razor, but in the meantime started yesterday with a disposable straight. Very new experience, I'm loving the change of pace!
Craig.

Thanked: 498Welcome Craig I would recommend you keep it on the cheaper side in the beginning. There are many high quality reasonably priced straights out there such as Dovo that will give you the shave of your life. Get one thats shave ready, and your golden dude. There will be plenty of time later once you perfect your craft to invest in higher end tools. But first learn on the cheaper stuff.
Its most important that you keep having fun, and practice, practice, practice. It will be well worth it.

Thanked: 0Thanks very much for the advice Tarkus, I've ordered a 5/8 entry level dovo and am making a strop (my girlfriends in fashion so lots of leather and linen hanging around). Found everyone to be very helpful on the forums!
