Default New guy from St. Louis

    Hey there!

I'm a newbie from St. Louis who is looking to start shaving with a straight razor because I'm sick of spending money on replacement blades for my current razor.

My girlfriend was awesome and got me a shaving kit from "The Art of Shaving", and it got me thinking that I wanted to get all old timey with my shaves. I've kinda bought into the whole idea of it now.

I'm looking at possibly buying a restored blade (because I like the vintage look), but I haven't settled into anything yet. I'm currently working my way through the beginners guide and all the other resources available on the site, and I'm looking forward to getting started!

Check out the classifieds on here for blades and spend lots of time reading on the wiki!

    Thanks!

I got turned onto STRazors from the classifieds, and I'm liking some of those. I'll probably be making the leap here soon!

Now THAT's a cool GF! Personally, I got interested in straights through wetshaving with vintage GEM single-edge razors. Those shaves were great, and with the guys in other forums claiming that any SE razor was essentially a "straight-on-a-stick", I figured that a straight would be a fun challenge to master. Good luck on your journey. Mine's just beginning, too.
