Getting into Straight Razors for the 1st Time
I am stationed in Afghanistan and was looking at Scotch Whiskey on the Art of Manliness and saw the section on Straight Razors. I have always been interested in Straight Razors. After some research I am planning on diving in and picking up the items required to shave with a straight razor. This forum has been REAL helpful! I posted in another section on my dilemma (DOVO Carpe Diem or BOKER EDELWEIS). From there I will collect my other items.
It seems from surfing the net that straight shavers are very friendly and helpful.
Thanks,
Ray

You can never have just one straight razor! Welcome to the forum and thank you for serving our country.
Make sure you spend time reading the wiki, it will answer almost every question other than which razor is right for you.

Thanks a lot. I have been doing A LOT of reading to make sure I get the right stuff and understand what I am doing. I still have questions, but I am going to keep reading before I ask. I have also gone on YOUTUBE to check stuff out. There is a lot of stuff out there. Shaving with a straight razor would be real difficult here, and I don't plan on shaving AT ALL for at least the first week I get back home. After that I am looking forward to learning to shave with a straight razor. I can't wait!
