    Default A new gentleman amongst them

    Hello gents,

    My name is Corey and I have recently picked up straight razoring. I am struggling to get it going and finding time to put into it, but I am writing a gentleman's blog, about all things gentlemanly (vintage clothes, actions, manliness, etc.) and straight razors fits right into my personal style. Since this is new, I currently own two razors. One I bought last month for 42 dollars, a J.R. Torrey "the artist". This razor had a sweet handle, which is why I bought it, but the blade is beyond my help. The other is Trustworth by Mappin & Webb that I paid 15 dollars for! My collection has just started by will continue to grow and be used! See you in the forums gents!

    Hey Corey,

    I too am new to straight razor shaving, in fact I'm still waiting for mine to arrive. I feel like I may be able to prophesize a little something for you. I have a feeling the more experienced shavers will respond with;

    "Have your razors been professionally honed, by someone who is very knowledgeable and experienced in honing razors?"

    From what I've learned, this is the key ingredient in a good shave. I've also learned that a "shave-ready" claim doesn't make a blade ready to shave with. I have a feeling you will be advised to send your blades to a honemeister. (Did I get that right gentlemen?)

    Secondly, what is your blog? I too love all things gentleman, and would love to have a read. If you're not allowed to post a link, please PM me.

    Cheers and good luck,

    Andrew

    Welcome, Corey!

    Fredericksburg's kind of a haul, but there's a shindig early next month in Vienna; http://straightrazorpalace.com/get-t...march-3rd.html

    Give you an opportunity to watch the learning curve go vertical! (I expect mine to!)

    Cheers!
