    Default Howdy ho neighbors!

Well, I suppose I should introduce myself. I'm Chris, and I reside in Chicago land. I recently got into the wonderful world of straight shaving. I just received my first razor and strop fresh from SRD this past weekend. I checked the mailbox twice a day for a week, and was so excited when I received the package, I couldn't wait to strop up and experience my first shave. I did a lot of research, and watched a lot of videos, so I felt very confident going into my first shave. Now, obviously it didn't go as well as I hoped (I nicked the strop a few times around the edges toward the ends where I flip the razor to do another pass). But I only cut myself once! Anyway, I look forward to talking to you all, and learning from the wealth of knowledge in this community.

    - Chris

Welcome to srp. Enjoy the adventure. Keep your strop tight and take it slow until you get the hang of stropping. After awhile it will become second nature. Depending on how bad you knicked it, there's some information on here on how to fix those trouble spots.

They were just minor knicks. I already searched for a solution. I saw that sanding was the preferred method, but actually found a fine steel wool works much better. The strop looks brand new again. Stropped up this morning, and realized I may have been in a rush of excitement the other day. Thanks Twogun!
