Default Komodo from Almere, the Netherlands

Hello, my name is Robert. i joined this forum over a year ago, but have been lurking ever since. I had been using a straight razor for several months and then I stopped for a few months because I had some personal issues and my wife told me to hand over the knife. I got it back yesterday, so today I shaved with the straight again.

Well, it's back to being a beginner for me. Just as I had learned how to do my entire face, today I didn't feel comfortable doing that. I have to get used to handling blade again so I only did the left side of my face. Tomorrow I'll shave again with the straight and we'll see how far I can go within the comfort zone. I don't want to rush things, as I remember from past experience that it'll come quickly enough. And once I have the skill, it's for life.

I will be purchasing a coticule soon as I believe my straight is beginning to dull. It has never been honed since I got it, so it may need some maintenance. Yesterday I also got my second straight from ebay, so that will need some honing as well. Maybe thére's someone not too far away who can help me with that?

Anyway, I'll be reading a lot as I have still much to learn.

Welcome back Robert, so to speak, glad to see you post.
I think you will find you take to it easily, since you did use a straight before. Probably just some rust that needs to be shook off

Yes, you're right. Today I already achieved a DFS. Was a nice experience to have that again. I ordered a second razor to expand the rotation a little. I also ordered a coticule to maintain my razor.
