    Default Good Afternoon

    Afternoon all ! New limey here . . .

Never thought i'd be registering on a forum about shaving ? Whenever i see films with chaps sat in barber shops getting a 'classic' shave i always think 'i'd like to have a go at that'. Part of the intrigue i think is the fact that you are using a non-safety razor to cut around the neck. Something that always makes people cringe . I a big fan of 'the old ways'. Let's face it, in todays modern society lots of the skills we use to create the world we now live in are lost and gone forever. Although shaving is something we take as an everyday 'chore' we can turn it into a 'ritual'. Almost like a Japanese tea ceremony. I've read Chris Moss' excellent PDF with regards to the art of the straight razor shave and it has hooked me. Shaving with plastic disposables is dull and bad for the environment. So i'm going to have a hunt about and see what i can find. First, lots of reading to do !

Personally i'm a retail manager for a living. I also teach martial arts in the evening. I'm a big fan of outdoor craft, airsoft (shooting) and also quite partial to a bit of costuming. I'm in the 501st garrison and can sometimes be found dressing up as a stormtrooper and stomping kids. All for charity of course. Nothing to do with the fact i have the mind of a child . . .
