Default Ready to go in Apple Valley, CA!

I received a SR for my birthday last year and have really enjoyed using it. I was able to get a shave in about 15 minutes after many hours of practice. Now the problem I have run into is not having the correct stone to hone and not having strop paste. I have an old leather horse hide stop my grandfather used to use. It seems to be in really good condition and doesn't seem to have been used much, if at all. However, I'm pretty sure I need some paste/grit to keep my edge. I'm currently getting horrible pull when attempting to shave. Alas, I have stopped using the SR until I can get it back to par. Any recommendations are highly appreciated. I have a Dovo Solingen razor which is made from hollow ground carbon steel.

i would reccomend getting your razor honed by an expert. that is about the quickest way to have it back to normal, and probably the least expensive route, should be in the 15-20$ range.
then after that check the stropping and honing forums and do some reading up on the basics of maintaining your edge.

    enjoy,
