    Wink Hello from Matthew

    High folks,
My name is Matthew, and I am interested in the world of straight razors. Although I don't currently own a straight, I have been wet shaving with a variety of safety razors for around three years or so. I love the beauty and mystique of the straight and hope to get one soon. My only problem is figuring out exactly what I need, lol. Btw, although I am 38, I only shave about every tow or three days--slow hair growth on my babyface.

    Matthew, Hi! And welcome.

'Responded to your other post about what stuff to start with. 'Nuff said there.

There's certainly some learning to do, but you likely already know how to lather, which eliminates one learning task. If you kept using canned cream, this is not true.

Your profile doesn't show where you are, but its likely you have other members nearby that would be happy to help. Should your travels bring you near Portland, OR, let me know. you can come by, try a boatload of gear, get help w/ technique, and not spend a dime.

The slow grow condition may be an advantage, in that the most available sizes and grind are the 5/8 full hollow. The slow growth is usually not as challenging as the 'beard of steel' types, so you'll have alot of great razors to choose from.

Enjoy the plunge. You'll find alot of help and great attitudes here.
