    Default Hello From Middle Tn

Ive been knife making for a while and have a few old razors in my box of special blades and just discovered this forum. Ive never tried shaving with a straightrazor and might give it a try. I dont spend a lot of time dealing with the annoying activity but maybe if it became fun to do it might be worth a try. With the outrageous cost of good disposable blades it makes it even more tempting. It really fascinates me, and I am sure there is a fascinating history. Anxious to learn all about the process of making such incredible blades.

Welcome to the forum Tom and welcome to the world of straight shaving too. Using a straight razor will make that annoying activity that you mentioned in you intro, and turn it into an all out passion where you cant wait to get home from work so you can turn off the world and apply your very rare and incredibly rewarding art. The forum will guide you in how to start. There are some true experts here, including razor fabricators.
Once again welcome to the fold Tom.

Well said Tarkus. I think his summation of looking foward to shaving with a straight is spot on and I hope you enjoy all there is to learn Tom. Welcome to SRP.
Why doesn't the taco truck drive around the neighborhood selling tacos & margaritas???

Welcome, Tom! And, a big ditto to what Tarkus said.

You are a blade guy. IMO, blade guys aught to shave with a....blade. There are many accomplished bladesmith/artisans here. I can only imagine the satisfaction they must get shaving with a blade they made. If it's anything like catching a trout on self tied fly...

I wish you a fun journey. The information generously shared here should make the road much less bumpy.
