    Default Hi from Utah

Hey, my brother joined this forum after he found my dad's old straightedges and I wanted to join up too. He says that I should probably watch some tutorial videos and stuff before I start using them, so I was wondering if you guys could give me a couple links to follow to learn how to use them better. Also, I don't have my own straightedge, so if you know where to get a good quality razor for a fairly low price, that would be nice. Thanks!

Let me be the first to say welcome, it's good to see another Utahn on here-- there's quite a few of us now. There are a few antique shops here that have some straights, and you could find a pretty nice one, depending on what your price range is; if you need more specific direction, just PM me and I'll point you in the right direction. When you do find one, I'll be more than happy to hone it up for you, free of charge.

PM me with any questions you have-- and a few of us locals will probably be getting together here within the next couple months

Welcome to SRP You've found a fantastic place here if you want to learn the art of the straight. Check out the library here as I'm sure you'll find some videos and such to help get you started. Also the classifieds here are a great place to find a razor at a good price that'll be shave ready for you Enjoy.

Welcome from another Newbie from Utah. Depending on where you are in the state you can find one at antique stores or even at The Art of Shaving located in Fashion Place mall in Murray. I personally did the Sight Unseen Deal from Larry at Whippeddog.com and think it was a fantastic deal. And it only took me about 3 days to receive it. I would be down for a SLC meet as well!

Looks like the advice has already been doled out. :P So I'll just say welcome to the forum, and enjoy your new found hobby.

Thanks so much, I am saving money to go to Scotland, so my top price isn't very high, just enough to get a razor that isn't a piece of junk like a gold dollar (my brother says they're cheap and not very good). Thanks again!

Hey bro! Welcome to the forum. I just had a random thought, when you get to Scotland you should keep your eye's open for shave stuff. It's bound to be more plentiful and shipping free in person.

That would be sweet. I never thought about that. When I get there I'll look for some.

you might want to look in the classifieds and vendors area. ruprazors and whippedog would be excellent places to look for starters kits that will not break your bank, too much.
