Default Hello and help from Idaho.

Good morning folks. I am new to the straight razor community and looking to get off to a good start. I was wondering if one of you seasoned shavors might help me with a question or two.

I am thinking of buying a straight razor that is advertised as a "solgen #44" and was wondering if you could help me clear up a couple of questions. 1. Is it possible that he means Solingen and not Solgen? 2. How do I identify a good quality Solingen vs. a knock off like the ones mentioned in the razors to avoid section of the beginners guide?

I would appreciate any advice you could give.

    Thanks

Thank you very much. This is very helpful. I had no idea about those get togethers and if I can make one I will.

    Thanks again.
