Thread: First shave

Hello.. I'm brian 22 years old.. Just purchased my first straight razor, it's something that really interested me and I pick up on things quickly.. My first shave wasn't to bad.. I do have one question though.. The blade would stick to my face if that makes sense. Could that be from to much oil?

Greetings Brian - Welcome SRP. The people at this site are great. They will make the curve that much less painful. As for your question, I don't think I can help you. Are wondering if you used too much "shave oil?" Or, are you asking because there was a lot of oil on the new blade from which it came packed in? I don't think I can ever recall a blade sticking to my face as you describe. But maybe your grip is a little heavy for the time being. I'm sure someone out here will be able to answer your question. welcome to SRP, you will like it here plenty of marines, including fellow artillery folks, are in the ranks here (not me though).

blades sticking to your face... could be several things first what is your razor make, where did you purchase it from. then tell us about shave prep sometimes if your lather dries out the blade could have sticky issues. and lastly, for now how long and on what did you strop.

we some details we can probably get yousorted out.
