Thanked: 0Hello, gentlemen.
My name is Steven and I'm currently a college student studying computer networking. I'd been shaving with those horrible but cheap 98¢ two-blade disposable razors until a month ago when I jumped into traditional wetshaving with a Lord L5 and a Van der Hagen "premium" shave kit (bowl, soap, boar brush - I've been forced to use the rest of my canned cream until my new badger brush and Col. Conk arrives this week due to the quality). I've been loving it ever since, and have been managing BBS shaves for a week now with no cuts.
Right now (literally) I'm waiting for my new razor, a Merkur 180, to arrive. I'm looking forward to having a razor with some weight behind it.
I'm hoping in a month's time I'll be ready to explore the world of straight razors, and this looks like a fantastic way to get acquainted with them. See you around!
Steven

Welcome to SRP. Glad you're making the switch, you will be happy you did and even happier when you learn to shave with a straight razor. You'll probably wonder why you didn't switch sooner. Read up and ask any questions you have.
Why doesn't the taco truck drive around the neighborhood selling tacos & margaritas???

Thanked: 58Welcome, Gents. This is a fantastic place for all of your wet-shaving quandries and you should expect nothing less than cordial communications from all contributors. I've visited some other forums and found them to be condescending in some regards.....but not here! Remember to use the search feature to peruse through this site for answers b/c chances are, your question has been asked a million times. Be sure to check out the beginner threads and such. If you can't find what you're looking for don't hesistate to ask!
