    Default Greetings from Connecticut!

Hi everyone, just dropping in and saying hello. I finally took the plunge into the world of straight razors and I'm anxiously waiting for my package to arrive. I purchased a DOVO 5/8 Bismarck as my first razor (please tell me if I made a poor choice), and I've spent the past week or so researching what to do, tricks of the trade, and finding the best ways to get started. This site is great, and I'm looking forward to spending more time with you all.

Welcome to SRP. Dovo makes decent razors, so you're off to a good start. Did you buy a strop as well? The main concern regarding the razor is making sure it's shave ready and depending on from whom you purchased it, the razor may or may not be shave ready. Let us know.
Why doesn't the taco truck drive around the neighborhood selling tacos & margaritas???

I bought a package from vintagestraightrazor.com, it came with a balsa strop, but reading up on the forums, I'll be picking up a leather one here in the next day or so. The site says the hone them by hand and are shave ready. I'll be sure to double check before starting. There is a barber in town who has been using a SR for as long as I can remember, might have him look at it and give me some pointers/advice.
