    Default Another Hello from Texas

Hello everyone. I'm in Austin Texas and have just been getting back into shaving with a blade (vs electric). I am glad to see such a great resource as this forum and I look forward to being here for a while. I haven't made the plunge into straight razor shaving yet because I'm debating whether to go with a straight or a DE . But even if I don't go for a straight you guys at least have lots of useful info on shave prep and aftershave products. Thanks for the great resources!

Welcome. Tex! With a name like Nick, you might as well go straight. JMHO.

Welcome to the forum Nick. We are all about wet shaving whether double edge or straight and you will find many members use both kinds of razors. Enjoy!

Yes, that's two different kinds of razors we can collect!<g>

The learning curve for DE razors is pretty quick -- "Don't use too much pressure", "Change the blade when it gets dull". You can get a new, very shiny one for $30 - $40, and vintage Gillettes for less. No hones needed.

The learning curve for straights is a lot longer, and the costs tend to be higher.
