Thanked: 0Hello from Newport News, VA Looking for a little help.
So I purchased a set from the well known amazon site and well things not going so well. Currently trying to find a place that will hone it. In or near my local area that way i could also find a place to get vintage str8ts. Pics of what I got bellow I figured that I'd start small and I saw alright reviews on the site so. Well I'll probably end up sending in it to Lynn for sharpening if you guys say its even with the time of day, I'm looking at getting a DOVO or maybe a vintage from hear, If that doesn't work out. And was also wondering if any one had ever seen these before. Would love feedback.

Greetings Cowpuncher and welcome to SRP!
you have picked up a pretty letter opener and the strop will not be much better. I like to suggest new member to go down the low cost path earlier on and control their spending and excitement while they are learning. to that end you might want to check out the starter kits the various vendors have available. two that come to mind are whippeddog and ruprazor. the razor needs not be shiny and sparkling new to work it just needs to be shaving sharp.
enjoy,

Cowpuncher, first, welcome to SRP.
That straight, as others have said, was a good investment in learning. I don't think you've find anyone that can or will hone it to shave readiness. That said, if you shoot me a PM, I'm happy to help you out. I have a razor that I've loaned to a few newbies to learn with. It's a good Swedish 5/8 that will work well for you. In fact, I'll be in the Tidewater area late next month and could possibly even find some time one evening to link up and give you a little help with your shaving, etc.

Thanked: 9Cowpuncher, Welcome! I am currently living in Hampton VA. As far as sending things to Lynn, i have never had him hone any of my razors but have had another pro from this site do it...its like night and day! If you want to try a few diff types of razors let me know I have several and don't mind you borrowing.
