    Default Excited from Kansas

Hello everyone! I'm from Kansas and well, I became intrested in Straight Razors when I ran accross what my mother advised to be my Great Grandfather's razor. I found it in a little blue box (origanal box) in our basement and sure enough it had the razor in it (I didn't think about grabbing pics of the box)! On the shank it says "Lakeside Cutlery Company" along with "Pride" etched on the blade. I've looked but have been unable to find any information about the company. I also found a porcelain type shaving bowl. I don't know anything about the company (I have looke though the database on here) and would love to learn more if anybody knows anything. I would like to get it all cleaned up and use it a few times and put it back on display and purchase a brand new blade that I can call "all my own" and pass it to my son; if I ever have one. I've read that Dovo is pretty good, if this is so about how much would I be looking at having to drop for an ok blade?

Here are some pics of my found treasure.

    Welcome to SRP!
that looks like a nice blade with some great family history. polish it up a bit and get it honed. never heard of the company though.
as to your question dovo makes fine razorssodoes boker and thiers-isard starting prices are around $85 for the entry level dovo and form there they goup to several hundred depending on model, size and scale material. lots of choices... let your wallet be your guide. just make sure you get ti from a vendor that hones them to shave-ready standards... straight razor designs, vintage blades llc, classic shaving are 3 of the more popular vendors of new blades here in the US.

    enjoy,
    jim
