Another Newby!
Hi all,
My name is J.F. and I live in France. I'll be 50 in a couple of month or so, and I am definitely ready for something new. I was always fascinated, and, I have to admit, a bit scared, by the idea of shaving with a straight razor. I guess that reaching half a century helps in taking the necessary steps.
I recently received a present from my 16-year old son: a complete set from Mühle (straight razor; badger brush, bowl, leather strop, sandalwood soap, display, etc.) First shave was a totally positive experience and there is now no turning back!
I registered to the French site Coupe-Chou Club, and browsing the various topics there I did find a reference to your Website (thanks to one of our very active member ''Requin'', a.k.a. ''Jaws'' here). I am quite impressed by the wealth of reliable and precious information I can gather on both sites. I am sure my visits here will help enhancing my pleasure of joining the community of straight-razor shaving enthusiasts! SRP is an awesome site!

Thanked: 67Welcome to SRP!
Glad you had a good first shave with a straight, and what a great present from your son!
I'm quite new to straight shaving too, and this is an extremely knowlegeable and friendly place - I've benefited a lot from reading past threads and the library, and there are always people ready to answer questions. Hope you enjoy it as much as I do!

Thanked: 485Hi JFL,
Welcome. I'm 50 in a couple of weeks, and I started SR shaving almost a year ago. I wish I'd started DECADES ago! Then again, if I had (started decades ago) I'd probably need to find something else to excite me now!
CarlStranger, if you passing meet me and desire to speak to me, why should you not speak to me? And why should I not speak to you?
