Hello
Yes...I'm a novice! I have toyed with the idea of using a straight razor, but, I know absolutely nothing about them. I am hoping to learn about straight razor use and maintenance. I would be happy right now just to have some input from different people concerning a good razor and kit for a beginner that does not break the bank. I am looking forward to participating here and learning a lot.

Shooter, can you suggest a decent razor. I've seen DOVO and Boker, but they are pricey. Or, do you get what you pay for? Just wondering. Just trying to get an idea what a good starter razor would be. Thanks for any advice.

I'd recommend whipped dog - he has some inexpensive, but shaving quality razor sets. Whipped Dog Straight Razor Shaving Equipment
I have read many compliments about the owner/operator. Also...welcome aboard fellow Georgian!

Hey BCJones509 that's an awesome gift from Shooter. Listen to these guys, they have a wealth of knowledge and are very willing to help, trust me, I'm a noob too and I have learned tons here. Look at all the stuff in wiki and watch lots of videos. Have fun, and remember to take it slow. There is no rush. I was about 7 or 8 shaves in before I did my first full face shave, and that was only WTG. Enjoy, it's a great ride!
