Thanked: 0Hi, I'm new
IMHO this site is very hard to navigate for a newbie. I want to buy a starter kit. I've done hours of research and while there's plenty of stuff here about shaving and honing there's very little about BUYING. No links etc.
If someone could please tell me where I can buy a good shave ready razor with a strop, brush etc. I'd appreciate it.
Thanks,
E.B.

Hi, and welcome to SRP.
Your request should be pretty easy to answer
Straighrazordesigns.com has some great starter kits at decent prices.
It's where I got my first razor and strop. I still use both to this day.Bjoernar
Um, all of them, any of them that have been in front of me over all these years....

Thanked: 94+1 to SRP. You can also try superiorshave.com classicshaving.com leesrazors.com and vintagebladesllc.com oh and almost forgot whippeddog.com
I have ordered from all of those sites and have never once had a problem. all the owners are stand up guys and have been a big help if you have questions.
good luck on your first kit!

Welcome to SRP!
you could also try the classifieds at the the top of the page and then look in member services or you could look in the vendors corner forum in the "mall" area.
enjoy,

I understand the sense the site is hard to navigate but really, it is not, i think it is more the overwhelming amount of information presented. There is so much available that sometimes the task of finding it can be a bit daunting.
I suggest you start with the WIKI. There are some great articles there on what to look for in your first straight and some thing to watch out for.
Here is a Link to the beginners guide. There you will find some good information on razors to avoid and some good choices for first razors.
You will probably not see a SET but there are a number of great vendors offering packages that meet all budgets.
If you have any other questions feel free to ask and I will try and help where I can

Thanked: 0Thanks,
Thanks gentleman for pointing me in the right direction. I'm not in a rush to get my razor so I'll keep looking till I find something that suits me. I wish they made that hot lather the barber puts on the back of my neck for my face..lol (maybe they do)
TY,
E.B.

one of the pleasures of wet shaving is your own hot lather. all you really need is a shaving brush, soap or cream, not the junk in the aerosol can, of your choice hot water and a pre-warmed lathering mug, bowl or scuttle. only takes a couple of minutes to whip up a mound of warm lather and you are all set.
