    Default Greetings from Arlington, TX

I am a new user from Arlington, TX. Been a long time wet-shaver using disposables, and finally took the next step to go to SRs.

Hoping to get it down pat without too much bloodshed.

    griffin2020,

Welcome to SRP. Glad to have you aboard.

Just take it slow and easy. That will prevent too much bloodshed.

Don't worry about nicks. They are part of the straight razor shaving territory. Get a styptic pencil and some antibiotic ointment from your local drugstore--for those rare occasions when the blood may flow.

    Take care--and smooth shaving.

Coincidence! I live in Arlington, Texas also. Greetings...

And, seriously, we should get together somewhere. Starbucks somewhere would be fine. PM me if interested...

+1 on Larry's offer. Almost nothing will shorten the learning curve more than getting face time w/ some skilled users.

You happen to be in a state that has an unusually high concentration of skilled guys. They can help you get alot more enjoyment from your shaves.

    Arlington?

Hey Neighbor, several forum members around here in the METROPLEX. I've only met one of them and it turns out he lives less than a mile from me.

I'm on the far West side of Cow Town. Haven't met Larry of Whipped Dog yet, but hope to in the near future. Have heard nothing but good about him and his operation.

There are TONS of good info here at SRP and lots of friendly, knowledgeable folks that are willing to help.

Read and ask a lot of questions.

    Willie

welcome to our world. you should seek Larry out and meet up with him forsure, me & 3 other shavers are now hangin out here in San Diego because of this forum.
As far as learning I do highly recomend start at the cheeks and go down, do all the flat spots first and finish with your old razor, by the 3rd shave or so you should be confident with moving on to other parts of the face, I actually nicked myself far more with DE's than str8ts! Cheers!!!
