Hello from Orlando
Hey everyone.
I've been thinking about straight razor shaving for a while and finally took the plunge. Just got my Dovo 5/8 half hollow ground razor, and a 30 degree, 3", red Russian leather strop. I was so excited to start shaving that I gave it a try today even though everything I've read has told me to get it honed first. Well needless to say it didn't go so well. I managed to get both cheeks to the jawline, then sliced myself pretty good while going under the nose. I will get it honed before trying again. I'm excited to learn this new skill, but am a little intimidated after my first shave.
Looking forward to learning a lot here, and I'll keep you posted as thing go along for me.
Stay classy
Andrew

Thanked: 88Welcome! It feels like I was just posting my intro post, LOL. Please do get your razor honed (we have several veterans posting honing services in the classified section, and for a great price). Also, please read First straight razor shave - Straight Razor Place Wiki. It's great advice.

Take your time; I did not get a full shave with a straight for over a week. One section at a time.
