Shout out from UT
I'm from Utah. I was shown this site by Korben88. I just started using a safety razor this past Monday. I used to use a Gillette Fusion cartridge razor. Blah. After trying the safety razor I won't be going back to the cartridge junk. I use a Parker 90R butterfly razor. Started out with some Taylor of Old Bond Street shaving cream. I'm quite the fan. The TOBS cream is way better than the canned cream. I threw the can away.
I'm not daring enough to try a straight razor. Maybe some day.

Welcome to SRP. I'm willing to bet you'll try shaving with a real straight razor in the very near future. The group of gentlemen on this forum tend to be enablers. Ask any questions you have and enjoy.

Nice to see another person from Utah. There's a few of us. I love my safety razors but straights are a whole nother addiction all together. Enjoy and ask lots of questions. We're trying to organize a get together in salt lake in the comings weeks as well!

I was just looking at some straight razors. Most of them seem pretty pricey. I don't think I can get in to another hobby right now.

yup the new ones and the custom ones can get pricey. vintage used razors from the classifieds here or from some of the vendors are much easier on the wallet. lots of folks use whippeddog for their first set up... a razor and a strop for around $50. once you are good and hooked then the hobby aspects can kick in. if you have self restraint you can go your whole life with just one razor, a strop and a barber's hone. good luck with stopping at one though.
enjoy,
jim

Thanked: 433DE's are "gateway" razors, you won't be able to resist the lure of the straight for long
