    Default Just Saying Hello

I've been lurking here for a longish while; finally decided to join and take a more active role in learning. I recently inherited some of grandpa's old Bokers. Grandpa never taught my old man how to shave with a straight razor, and the old man never taught me *anything* about shaving—Guys, why do we do that? (or not do that, as the case may be)—so at the youthful age of fifty-one, I'm trying to make up for a heck of a lot of lost time.

Ah well... One of my favorite hobbies (and a large chunk of my career) involves traveling, and this looks to be an interesting journey... Let's go.

Hi Rigger and welcome to SRP.
Glad to see someone here is younger than me......hehehehe
I'm glad to say that I have had the opportunity to teach two of my sons to shave with a cut-throat - a great bonding experience.
It's a pity they don't live close enough for me to mentor them.
You are sooooo lucky to have some family heirlooms to use - I wish I did.
Hang on and enjoy the ride

    Welcome to SRP!
I was fortunate and both my dad and granddad used straights and taught me how. I also have their bokers and dubl ducks

shaving is a nice relaxing hobby and you are only a few years older than me. remember 50 is the new 20, because either way you are going to be working for the next 50 years.

With a nickname like "RIGGER", I can understand why you're on tour so much.

I worked around the crane industry for a lot of year and was "on tour" a bunch of that.

    Welcome to the madness.

Welcome to SRP! As you probably saw during your lurks, the people here are great, and are super friendly and helpful. I recently began my own straight shaving journey and am grateful for all the help available here.
