Thread: Greetings from Indonesia

Hello all - My name is Steven, and I'm a U.S. diplomat currently posted to Jakarta, Indonesia. I, like many others never thought much of shaving . . . it was just a chore that I dreaded. Then about 2 years ago, I started using a double edge safety razor, and that changed everything. Shaving became something that I looked forward to each day. It was only a matter of time before I made the transition to straight razors, and about 3 months ago, I lept right in. Some (my wife in particular) might say that I had a problem. I'd simply say that I found a new hobby. I currently own about 20 Solingen straights. Some are fully restored, some are shave-ready, and some are projects waiting to happen. I decided to limit myself to Solingens and have really enjoyed doing some simple restorations so far. I've been lurking the forums since then, but decided it was now time to introduce myself. Many thanks to everyone for the tips, advice and generally helpful information I've found here. Look forward to spending some time on the forums. Cheers.

solingens are great shavers usually, someday soon though you are going to want sheffeild and US steel razors and thenyou will know addiction! glad you are enjoy thus far.
