Default Hello, new from N. Cal.

Hi everybody. It's good to see so much support for straight razors. My friends all think I'm nuts for using a straight razor. I like to use the old adage, "You can lead a horse to water but you can't make it drink." I explain the reasoning and advantages but I guess it takes a special kind of person to appreciate the joy and serenity of the straight razor shaving. I got my first straight razor about 6 months ago from a really cheap vendor and have been making it "work" since then. I'm ready to graduate to a better razor and found this wonderful site full of information so I decided to join. I look forward to talking with the more knowledgeable, and not so knowledgeable, people for my next purchase. There's so much to choose from I don't want to just go out and buy something without knowing what I'm getting myself into. So, I look forward to reading, chatting and learning from my new friends from around the world. Here's to close shaves and no nicks....

But without the nicks, how would we fully appreciate the life affirming sensation that old-school aftershaves readily afford us? I normally keep a goatee, but shaved it into a biker 'stache' with A LOT of burn on the chin.....HOLY CRAP! Aqua Velva Musk rocks......

LOL...I keep a goatee and with my super bargain bin razor I'm so looking forward to getting something easier to work with. I will give myself some credit for using that razor. I have often thought I could get a closer shave with a butter knife. I will say I love my styptic pen and my after shave lotion. Two of my favorite things in the medicine cabinet and most used. I wish I would have found this site when I was starting to think about using a straight razor.
