Thanked: 0Hello, new from N. Cal.
Hi everybody. It's good to see so much support for straight razors. My friends all think I'm nuts for using a straight razor. I like to use the old adage, "You can lead a horse to water but you can't make it drink." I explain the reasoning and advantages but I guess it takes a special kind of person to appreciate the joy and serenity of the straight razor shaving. I got my first straight razor about 6 months ago from a really cheap vendor and have been making it "work" since then. I'm ready to graduate to a better razor and found this wonderful site full of information so I decided to join. I look forward to talking with the more knowledgeable, and not so knowledgeable, people for my next purchase. There's so much to choose from I don't want to just go out and buy something without knowing what I'm getting myself into. So, I look forward to reading, chatting and learning from my new friends from around the world. Here's to close shaves and no nicks....

Thanked: 0LOL...I keep a goatee and with my super bargain bin razor I'm so looking forward to getting something easier to work with. I will give myself some credit for using that razor. I have often thought I could get a closer shave with a butter knife. I will say I love my styptic pen and my after shave lotion. Two of my favorite things in the medicine cabinet and most used. I wish I would have found this site when I was starting to think about using a straight razor.
