    Default Hello from South Korea!!

I've been a lurker here for quite sometime so might as well say Hi!. A straight and DE shaver here. Currently based in South Korea doing the ESL thing and enjoying this hobby as of late. Found some good info here so thought might as well join. Here's some razor porn as an introduction . It's a Takami Tamahagane Watetsu razor.Name: IMG_1176.jpg

    Welcome to SRP!
Nice chisel, we have a growing number of Japanese style razor users so i'm sure you will find some support.

thebigspendur and jimr two of our mods are particular fans of them. while i can wield a western style straight with my right hand, well enough to in a pinch shave my whole face with it. i lack the fine motor control to feel comfortably with using a kamisori with it. Someday I'll find a custom maker to make me one ground the opposite way. you know for civilized, that is to say LEFT hand dominant, people.

    enjoy,
    jim

Nice razor, i can't see the maker's mark on it though? That is the coolest thing on the kamisoris!

It's not 100% Tamahagane . According to one site "Watetsu is the steel that is produced with Tamahagane, when Tamahagane (approximately 0.8% to 1.5% carbon content) is made in the steel manufacture, however Watetsu is approximately 0.1% of carbon content" I had another kamisori but this one is much much better.Much smoother cut, better than my other straights ( maybe just a bit better than my John barber. I will have to check again)
