    Default Hi from Northampton

    Hi,

Just joined today, after days of trawling the site absorbing all the great info.
Given me plenty to think about, and even want to have a go at making a few custom blades / restores (got a post running in The Workshop)

My history into SE shaving is all pretty new, got intersted after a work collegue introduced me to the idea, and instead of buying an expensive new blade my wife gave me an old 6/8" ERN Crown & Sword (it was her belated Grandfathers).

This blade had seen better days and required a fair bit of cleaning, and after a lot of elbow grease and a few sessions on a honing stone I had my first SE shave. I must admit it was not the best introduction as the edge was not 100% shave ready, but I persisted for a few shaves and TBH although not perfect I knew this was for me.

I've since decided to buy a new Dovo jobbie so I could see how a new shave ready blade should feel, and I was not disapointed!!! Had my first 3 pass shave at the weekend with no pulls or nicks and I've not felt skin that smooth on my face since I was a teenage boy!!!

The Crown & Sword has now gone to an expert for full restoration (I know my wife will get some satisfaction from me resurecting the old gentleman), and in the mean time, i've picked up a Gold Dollar for £2.50 to make my honing / stropping mistakes on, and 2 Sheffield steel blades I plan to restore / modernise (all for <£30).

Anyway, just wanted to say hellow, and keep up all the good work, and loving all the info available.

    Regards

    Dave
