Thread: New guy from Jackson MI, USA!

After spending 7 years in the Marine Corps, his last day was May 22 2011.

He has not shaved or cut his hair since.

I was going to go 2 years, but certain job opportunities are becoming available to me, and I wish to take advantage of them. So I will be doing a partial shave at the end of this month, and a full shave next month. I decided that when this all goes, I will be doing so with a straight razor. Before I stopped shaving I had been using a safety razor and had fallen in love with shaving. I can only imagine how much more rewarding this will be.

Tonight I have ordered the following (all form amazon.com):

Dovo "Forestal" Straight Razor

Fromm Razor Strop

Steelex 8000 Grit Waterstone

Taylor of Bond Street Rose

Geo F. Trumper Coral Skin Food

I already have a (cheap) brush, and mug that I have been using for a few years.

I am extremely new to all this, and look forward to mastering this skill. If there is anything on my list that you guys see that is junk, please let me know, and i will return it. I am looking forward to this great adventure, and getting to know you all!

well you are most likely will need to get that razor honed be an expert. the Fromm strop should be ok. never heard of the steelex stone, i would have suggested a 4k/8k Norton (they are cheaper too) the trumpers and taylor products are great

Hey another person from Prison City USA! While I don't live there anymore, Jackson is where I was born and raised and I still call it home. I do get down there every now and then so if you need a little face time with someone I am more than willing to try and figure something out on one of my trips.
