Thanked: 21Months and unfortunate confusions later, Hello to all
Having finally discovered that my failure to join was software related (on my end of course, I only fix these silly things for a living, if my computer at home is broken it tends to stay that way for awhile) I feel it's only fair I stop lurking and announce myself.
I've only recently gotten into straight razor shaving, mostly caused by SWMBO deciding it would make a good hobby for me. So I have a rather tough beard, and she really wished it spent more time gone than it did. Naturally she bought me a made in China $10 razor that at least I couldn’t have cut myself with if I wanted to, but it was enough to put the idea into my head.
In truth I found Straight Razor place exactly one purchase later than I should have. I ended up buying a razor from a brand on the DO NOT BUY LIST for myself and found the site while trying to figure out if the problem was me or the blade. Turns out it was both, but at least I was able to follow suggestions here to reach whipped dog and get a shave ready razor. Razor burn, a few small nicks and one small cut (I totally blame on the cat) later, I feel as if I’m starting to get… well if not exactly better, at least less terrible at str8 shaving. The important part really is that I’m enjoying the experience.

Thanked: 21I really believe it was simply a part of the ploy to get me to shave more often. It both worked, and she's sorry!

Welcome to SRP. At least you will have a good box opener when the good stuff arrives! (the do not buy razor)
