Thread: New Member from WA State

Hey guys, my name is Danny Williams aka dawills87 and I hail from Tacoma, WA. I just started shaving with a straight razor again a few months ago. I own your basic set up since I sold my old set up years ago to buy ammunition to shoot competitively (I know right?!?!?).

I switched over to shaving with a straight razor years ago because it just seemed like a good idea since razors with more than 3 blades makes it look like I was attacked by a small animal in the face. Plus, it gave a lot of cool points over in Iraq amongst my peers :P


Very happy to be here guys and I hope I can learn a few more things.

Also in WA state, Danny. Welcome. I've only been using a straight for about a week, but the comments and recommendations here have been GREAT!

And welcome. I think you'll find that both your hobbies, amongst this bunch, will not produce any contradictions. Lock the rest of your money away while you study. It's very easy to become infected with numerous acquisition disorders here. (There are plenty of enablers just waiting to help.)

@gssixgun - As for the meet up in Spokane, I'll have to check my schedule when the times comes. I think I'd love to meet people with similar interests since all my friends don't even know what a straight razor is!

@Mike Blue - I've had that disorder for quite some time and it's depressing but sometimes rewarding haha I've promised myself only a razor a year. Buying soaps is a different story....

Its funny thinking back when I started, I had absolutely NO direction and had to "figure it out" myself. I used to strop my razors on my jeans that I was wearing at that time and on a 1-1/2" leather belt that I wore for work. Wasn't the best shave but it didn't really matter since I didn't know any better :P
