Thanked: 0Greetings from Upstate NY!
Yes another new Straight Razor shaver... Unfortunately I didn't find this site until I'd already purchased a "Junk" razor, live and learn I guess. Hopefully the Classifieds here or some luck on E-bay can provide me with some quality gear.
I've been enjoying reading over some of the tips for beginners and hope to eventually have a few tips to pass around of my own in a few years.

Welcome to SRP.
Once you get good equipment and start learning this type of shaving you'll find out don't need years! Where in upstate NY are you, there are a bunch of us all over the state, somebody is probably close by.
Have fun!

Welcome fellow New Yorker! I'm from Brooklyn, and also new to this forum.

Thanked: 0Thanks, but don't get too excited I moved here about 2 years ago from down South. Actually grew up in the Carolina's. Found out thanks to all the folks moving south it's now cheaper to live here than where I was, not to mention unemployment rates were about 8.5% lower than where I was living. One really nice perk is I get to show a few of the locals I've friended what Carolina Style BBQ is all about.

Thanked: 50You're not saying things aren't so sunny in the sunny south? I didn't realize that unemployment was so high there.

Thanked: 0Depends on the area. Where I was living down south (Charlotte NC) I moved around one of its highest points, about 12% vs the 7.5% here at the time. Lot of that had to do with so many "White Collar" jobs moving in and driving industry out due to the rise in property values. Just across the State line in SC, one of the counties was reporting 22% unemployment at one point.
When I moved here the rate was about 7.5% and the cost of living was actually 4% lower based on the same income.
