    Default Wanting to get started

    Hey everybody,

I am interested in getting started with straight razor shaving. I would like to start with a actual razor, than with a shavette.

I have a background with metal and knife manufacturing. I am leaning to the side of getting a good reconditioned razor to start with rather than getting a new one.

Any ideas? Does anyone know of a good razor for sale?

    Welcome to SRP, johnny.
Check the classifieds here and PM the vendor as to what might be best for you - they won't steer you wrong.
Hang on and enjoy the ride

    Hello Johnny,
Welcome to Straight Razor Place. As my friend Havachat suggests, please check the Classified for good razors. We're all here to help you along. You're more than welcome to drop me a personal message and I'll gladly mentor you. Or you can get in touch with other gentlemen in the forum. Wet shaving with the straight razor takes commitment and time. If you are willing to embrace it, it will reward you. It has me. Stay well.

    Welcome Johnny:

    I'm new here too!
The folks here are VERY HELPFUL!

If you want to learn... I suggest you ask lots of questions and check out the "Library" and maybe even get Lynn's Video. (our gracious host)
Also, you said you have a background in metal and knife making... There's all kinds of videos and posts on refurbishing old razors in the "Library" and a lot of folks here can guide you too.

This is just a great place with great people.
