Thanked: 1Woz from Aus
I thought it was about time I introduced myself. Real name Warwick, but almost everyone calls me Woz.
I initially came here looking for information about sharpening stones from a general point of view. I am interested in old skills and particularly tools. My Dad was a carpenter in his day hence the interest in tools, but as a Permaculturist I also became interest in maintenance and sharpening. I wanted to increase my limited knowledge in this area, and have been an avid reader of the Hone forum ever since. The knowledge I have picked up so far has expanded my views, capabilities and stone immensely, for which I am very grateful.
However, there is a down side as I seem to have picked up something else from the Hone forum - HAD! ;-)
Anyway, that's me.
Cheers,
Woz

Thanked: 983G'day Woz. Where in Oz are ya? And what does a "Permaculturist" do? I prefer my hair short and straight ! Have you got yourself set up with a cut-throat or are you just in it for the stones?

G'Day Woz and welcome to SRP.
Glad to have another Aussie on board.
You haven't told us what state you are in (and don't say 'pi$$ed'), but we'll talk to you anyway, wherever you are...hehehehe
My Dad was a cabinet maker, however, I can't work with timber to save my life.
I'm pretty good with things mechanical and electronic, though, so I got the ability to work with my hands.
Good luck with the HAD and I hope you catch RAD soon.
Cheers,
Geoff

Thanked: 1Thanks Gents. I'm down in chilly Melbourne.
Stones was the initial interest, with shaving a chore. Still is, I have so much on my plate it is relegated to "if I must" status. However, my interest in razors has been piqued and I've now got myself a few so we'll see what happens.
>And what does a "Permaculturist" do?
Hmmm, Permaculture is a design system for sustainable living, created by two Aussies in the 1970s. I design and implement sustainable agricultural systems, from backyard gardens through to broadacre farms, but that is only part of what Permaculture can do.

Thanked: 1587Welcome to SRP!
You've certainly come to the right place to ramp up the stone addiction. I hope you enjoy it here!
James.

Thanked: 983Well as a Permaculturist, you have a big job correcting over 200 years of bad (for this country) European farming practices. I wish you all the best of luck. Never knew there was a name for good farming practice. I just called it good farming. Or sustainable.

Thanked: 1Yep, big job. Huge. But as they say, one garden/farm at a time.
