Thread: Hi from Michigan

Fianlly taking the plunge and going straight razor... My wife suprised me with a setup after I have been talking about it for a few months. From what she bought me, I think she did good. But I am sure some time on the forum, will have me tweaking my setup. She bought everything from the art of shaving store, so I will try everying out and upgrade/change as needed. The razor is Thiers-Issard w/stainless scale.

Welcome, from another in Michigan!!! The Art of Shaving store has good, pricey stuff (so I've heard). The razor will likely not be shave ready from the factory, but TIs are a quality razor! Spend some time watching the videos, read up in the Wiki, or meet up with another who is close by. Send your razor out for a professional honing (look under member services section of the forum) and enjoy. Good your wife for getting you started!! Oh, I am in southeast Michigan

Thanks for the welcome and I am in southeast area too, I am in Warran and see you are in Milan. I pass by all the time on the way down to Cabelas. Looking now for places in the are I can send my new blade to have honed.

No problem, I am not into honing yet very much or I would offer... I go to Church down the street from Cabela's and am in Dundee often. I am only 3 minutes out of the way. Stop by some time!!!!

I am not sure of anyplace too close.... Undream is a member here and lives in Adrian. I know he does restorations and re-scales, but I don't know if he hones for hire. You could always shoot him a PM. Find him under the community link at the top! Stay smooth
