Default hi from NYC w/ some near BBS-ness

    Hi ya ladies & gents,

New to the SR world. I've been lurking & reading up about straights, here on SRP, for the past 2 months. I was spending so much money on cartridges, I'd use them until they really started to pull. Finally took the plunge & bought a new Dovo w/ a paddle strop, absolutely no regrets. I'm loving the closeness & feel of using a straight. I've only done 3 shaves, so far, but I'm getting the hang of it. I have an easier time going ATG on my chin & neck than I do WTG, weird lol. Next order of business would be to complete a shave session w/o any nicks & then convert my friends/family over to a SR/DE, muah hahaha. At some point, I'd like to get into honing & restore a straight. It seems fun & much more economical than buying new straights.

I'm sure my time here will be great & I'll constantly be learning something new.

Welcome! I'm sure you've already noticed a lot of us took the same route to wet shaving: frustration at cost & crapness of cartridges. Most of my friends and family still think I'm nuts, but I have a colleague at work at least intrigued if not yet committed.

As for the cost savings... it's fantastic in theory until full scale RAD, the restoration bug coupled with a reluctance to part with the restored ones, and HAD come into play! But what the heck - even if my economic rationale has been thrown out the window, it's still worth it.
