Thanked: 3226I have got fairly oily skin also and find Thayers witch hazel applied after the shave seems to help with that.

Hey lz6. Serving was my pleasure, as I can see you too did some time in unifrom yourself so let me thank you in return.
While in garrison I used a Mach 3 and when in the field I used a variety of disposables or a cheap battery-operated electric.
I have been wet shaving for 3 months now. I have found that shaving every other day hepls reduce some of the irritation; the whiskers simply do not get long enough to require every day shaving.
How long does it normally take for one's face to adjust to being shaved with "very sharp" razors? I was hoping that mine would have been used to it by now but apperantly it will take longer.
I have sent an email to Mr Abrams about getting one of my 3 razors honed; I am awaiting a reply. I developed the habit of having backups for everything during my time in uniform I hope to one day be able to do my own honing but until then I will have to rely on others.
Thanks for the tips lz.

Thanked: 2209Welcome to SRP,
Watch the following Forum for Razor Meets in your area and check for prior Razor Meets to find SRP guys in your area . ......
Get Togethers and Meetings
BTW, click on "Settings" above then "Edit Profile" and enter in your "Location" then you can be notified of future Razor Meets in your area.
Be sure to Strop for 30-50 round trip laps just before each and every shave. Your face will say thank you!
BTW, I use a pre-shave cream/oil that I massage into my skin also and find that it helps a lot. IMHO, the beard prep, stropping & shaving technique are very important.
Hope this helps,Randolph Tuttle, a SRP Mentor for residents of Minnesota & western Wisconsin
