    Default Hey everybody!

Hey everybody. Just picked up my first Dovo Shavette the other day and had my first shave. I've been using my safety razor for a couple of months now. Thought it was time to graduate. At first I started at my sideburns and that s where i mad the mistake and came in at the wrong angle. Ended up cutting myself pretty good. Finished the rest of my face fairly well with no other nick. Only did one pass wtg then finished with my safety. Was really nerve racking, but now i can't wait till I shave again and become more proficient. Here's a shot of the cut. Anybody have any good beginner tips for me?Name: uploadfromtaptalk1342466209898.jpg

Hello and congrats on the purchase,

First thing I would recommend is when you are moving the blade
<----> pull it away from the face to prevent cuts.
Make sure to pull the skin or stretch the skin in order to prevent cuts.
There is also a good guide on here about how to start using straights. I would give that a gander. The information from those before us is priceless.

Oh, and invest in a styptic pen. Just incase...

    Good luck,

It's just corn syrup... Warm, blood flavored, corn syrup ...

Welcome to SRP, Crazy! Less than 10 stitches doesn't count.

Thanks guys for the tips. Yeah I already have my styptic pen at the ready right next to my razor stand. I've been tolling and this forum and read some awesome stuff. Might be starting on my straight razor collection pretty soon. Just got to get the go ahead from the Mrs. You all know how it is...

Yeah man. You got that right! That why i started out with the Shavette. Easier price to swallow. Didn't have to go out and buy anything extra. Been buying all of my stuff from Art of Shaving. After tolling this site and SRD. I know better now. But this is after i bought all my stuff.
